Have you ever considered a career in real estate? Have you thought about what it would take to be a successful Realtor? Well, there are many, many thoughts on the subject. Do you have what it takes? Here are 5 secrets of a successful Realtor!

1. THEY BECOME THE LOCAL EXPERT

Today’s buyers and sellers expect their Realtor to be the expert in their local market. The most successful Realtors have carved out a niche and are knowledgeable in that specific area or location. They don’t try to be the expert in every area. They focus on one or two areas and work on becoming the local expert.

2. THEY PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE

What do buyers and sellers want from their Realtor? Good service. They want a quick response to their questions and updates on their showings and transactions. Keeping in contact and providing good service now will insure that buyer or seller is a client for life. They are also more likely to refer friends and family and help increase business in the future. Successful Realtors know that good service will help build relationships for life!

3. THEY LISTEN AND ASK QUESTIONS FIRST

Realtors who listen and ask questions first understand their client’s needs. A successful Realtor finds out what their client’s specific needs are before they talk about what they have to offer.

4. THEY SET GOALS FOR THEIR BUSINESS

They decide what they want to achieve this year, this month and this week. How many homes do they plan to list? What do they need to do to reach it? They create a business strategy to achieve their goal and then follow the plan.

5. THEY HAVE GOOD TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS

They plan and schedule their day before it gets away from them. They use a good time management system and prioritize their tasks every day. They plan their appointments. They keep regular hours open for showings and listing appointments during the day and evenings and try to keep to the schedule.

And, successful Realtors don’t forget to schedule time for exercise, family and fun.
