The weather is finally warming up and we are all planning on spending more time outside on the patio, deck or back yard.  I know I am!  Maybe your outside space is nice but it’s lacking something or maybe you want to make your patio a focus for home buyers touring your home.  Here are some inexpensive ideas to make your patio pop this summer!

Color:  The easiest way to make your patio pop is to add color.  Brightly colored outdoor pillows and cushions will brighten up your patio furniture and update the look.  A colorful outdoor rug will anchor your conversation area.  Do you have a privacy fence?  Paint it a bright color on the inside!  Consider staining a concrete patio.

Light:  If you enjoy wandering garden centers and home improvement stores you will find strings of patio lights in many different designs from elegant to super cute and colorful.  Or add several different sizes and styles of lanterns.  Adding citronella candles will help keep the mosquitoes away.  Either hanging or strategically placed, lights will add romance to your patio and garden.

Water:  Want to make your patio more Zen like?  Add a water feature close enough to hear the soothing sound of water falling.  Don’t forget to shine some light on it for the evenings.

Fire:  Fire is a great way to add interest to your patio.  Your guests will gather around the fire pit when the night begins to get chilly.  Or fire lit torches can light the path to your patio and help keep the mosquitoes away!

Cool Accessories:  Add a cool accessory for an instant conversation piece!  Metal décor will reflect light.  Stone, ceramic and wood will add texture.  Look for decorations that will add more texture and color and maybe a little style and whimsy to your patio!

Bring in some pretty flower pots filled with annuals in coordinating colors to finish the look.
