She Sheds: The Woman-Cave

It has been a dream of mine to have a she shed of my own and I think you’ll see why after looking at the examples below. For those of you who aren’t up to speed on the latest craze, a she shed acts as a female backyard retreat that developed in response to males having their sacred man caves. The trend couldn’t have come soon enough in a world where we need some time to relax and unwind from our busy lives. The best part is your personal oasis can be transformed based on your interests, whether it is an art studio or a cozy napping area.

Here are some of my favorite hideouts:

Garden Studio: Any she shed that includes a dog is automatically going to make my list. I also love that this garden studio has an indoor and outdoor area for relaxing in solitude. What better way to spend a weekend afternoon than lounging on your deck or being artistically inspired by your surroundings?

Beach Cottage: Just say the word “beach” and you can count me in. This cottage takes basking in the sun to a whole new level. The hammock alone would make the perfect place to read your favorite novel or snooze after a long day of riding the waves. But you don’t need a beach to recreate this look and feel, perhaps you could make it happen in your to your own backyard.

Shabby Chic Greenhouse: With its feminine design and unique décor, this greenhouse was converted into much more than a place to house plants. It doesn’t get any fancier than enjoying a glass of peach tea under the dazzling crystal chandeliers.

Craft Shack: This organized craft shack allows for plenty of room to express creativity. Having storage and no distractions is key to your innovative designs reaching its full potential. You will never want to leave after having a separate space dedicated to your favorite hobby!
